The Third Annual Middle School Students of Color Conference
will be held at KCD, on Saturday, February 27, 2010.  This conference is sponsored in part by the Diversity Committee, whose membership includes representatives from several independent schools in the state (including Sayre, KCD, Walden, & Collegiate to name a few).  One of this Committee's goals is for various schools to take turns hosting this event in future years.  ALL interested students are welcome and encouraged to attend.  For more information go to:

Students interested in track should come to the track meeting/practice today, Monday, 2/22.  Regular practices will begin on Monday, March 8th, and will be held on Mondays through Thursdays, from 3:00-4:30 PM.  Some students in grades 6-8 with prior track & field experience will be competing in the Mason Dixon games on Friday, March 5; that information will be determined at today's meeting (only a limited number of athletes can represent Walden at the Mason Dixon games).   Students participating in the Mason Dixon games will practice during the next two weeks.

Thank you to YUM!  for sponsoring the pizza lunch on Friday, Feb. 19.  The corporate officers of YUM! were so impressed by our students' and families' great support of Kentucky Harvest that they contacted the school to arrange this treat!   YUM! has a strong corporate mission to feed the hungry worldwide, so Walden's great support of Kentucky Harvest is most appreciated by them.

Walden Customized Search Engines
Have you noticed that when you Google a topic, you often receive over a million results?  As you know many of these sites are either useless, unrelated or not age/grade appropriate.  To better assist your child, Walden teachers have created custom-made Google Search Engines. The purpose of these search engines is to narrow results to only educational websites chosen by Walden teachers.
If you have a great educational site, please email the link to craymond@walden-school.org. Please specify the grade level and subject. We can add it to our search engines as well.  "Together" we can continue to improve these useful tools!
To find them:  Go to Walden's website à Resources à Online Resources à choose a division.
Thanks, Charlie Raymond, Technology Coordinator
